Fish eat ocean algae to obtain the critical DHA and fish oil extractors harvest fish and then process the fish to obtain the oils yet fish oil is an imperfect solution to provide this critical nutrient. The heat used in the extraction process destroys the metabolic enzymes that algae possess to produce additional DHA. So, the very fish oil extraction process to obtain the DHA and enzymes destroys the very purpose of the exercise. A vicious and impractical solution.

Contrast that with the growing cycle that we use to create SmartZYME™.  In our Maine facility in the USA, we begin with the algae and grow and harvest it in our own patent pending bioreactor system – all at room temperature, thereby preserving the algae’s special enzymes.  To protect it from the damaging oxidation that all extracted fish oil is extremely prone to, we package SmartZYME™ in oxygen barrier single serving sized pouches.

Also extracted fish oil is extremely prone to damaging oxidation. Once the package is opened, fish oil is exposed to the air and oxidizes quickly and spoils, often long before the expiration date. Oxidized fish oil is toxic and is very bad for people and pets who consume it.

OXIDIZED OMEGA 3 OIL CAN BE A TOXIC COCKTAIL FOR YOUR PET – HERE’S WHY

  • Fish oil manufacturers use heat in their production processes that destroys the special enzymes that algae naturally possess, thus limiting the health benefits that might be derived from Omega 3 nutrients. The whole cell DHA nutrition offered by SmartZYME™ is the safer, better solution. Any benefits to brain, heart, and metabolic health derived from Omega 3 extracted oils are therefore vastly limited compared to the whole cell DHA nutrition offered by SmartZYME™.
  • The process to extract Omega 3 fatty acids from fish causes extracted Omega 3 oils to begin to spoil the moment the package seal is broken and the contents are exposed to the air.  Toxic oxidation can begin to occur within weeks; much sooner than the date stamped on the package. The antioxidants added by manufacturers offer little added protection. Once this damaging oxidation process starts there is no going back!

-Shows increases in fish oil oxidation of both bulk and Microencapsulated fish oil over a 30 day period. The study concludes that it is an acceptable level of oxidation, however, had this study been continued until 90 days, that level may no longer be acceptable. This study mimics a lot of other studies on fish oil oxidation, where the trial period is shorter than the time it takes to consume a 90 day supply of fish oil tablets. This misleads the consumer on the valid shelf life of extracted fish oils.
